Mark, Drums

I was born and pretty much raised in Austin. Well, the general vicinity at least. My dad, being a musician, got me into music. I grew up watching him play saxophone with different groups around town. I tried playing the sax when I was about ten, but I think I was too young to pick up the discipline.

I finally got into drums when I was about twelve. I've been playing with local bands here in town for about five years now. I joined fast and far in May of 2001, and I've been having a blast ever since. As far as my musical tastes go, they're pretty scattered across the board. I've found myself listening to anything from old school jazz to Nine Inch Nails.

I have to say, however, that being a percussionist causes my bias to fall toward the bands with drummers that stand out. Carter Beuford from the Dave Matthews Band has been a major influence of mine. I've also picked up some tid bits from drummers such as Dave Weckl, Stewart Copeland, and Neil Peart of Rush. I'd be committing a heinous crime, though, if I failed to mention the king himself, Buddy Rich. Anyway, enough rambling on my part.
