Soto, Vocals

I was born in El Paso, Tx. Although I was raised by a hard working middle class family, I grew up among predominantly low income surroundings. However, this didn't bother me because it made me work hard for what I really wanted in life. Being brought up by a mexican family helped me realize the importance of family. My interest in music started at a young age. During family gatherings my brother and I would put on costumes and sing along to our favorite songs. When all my friends talked about which college to go to, I was writing lyrics, poems and short stories. While my friends tediously studied I found content in the local pub with a good stout and good book(in particular "Ghosts" by Hans Holzer). I never felt the calling to college, but rather to really experience life through travel and fulfillment of personal goals.

During my high school years my friend, Tury Q, and I headed to a local studio called "Adobe studios" to record our first single produced and engineered by George Espino(who later had his own album mixed down my Steve Lyon who works with the likes of Depeche Mode and the Cure). The genre was Latin hip-hop and we went on to record several other singles that basically went nowhere, but that didn't stop my calling to fulfill my dream in music. In my sophmore year I heard an utterly intrigueing voice eminating from my friends stereo. His name was simply Morrissey and he won me over with a simple chorus. The Smiths became my favorite band at that time and needless to say Morrissey was my main influence as far as my singing style is concerned. I was then introduced to a band called Depeche Mode, by my good friend George Navarro, and they won my heart as well. I was so amazed by this new world of music I had been introduced to. My desire to write and sing had grown even stronger then. George Navarro and I then formed a group called L.I.M(The Lost Industry of Music). We wrote our songs from George's house located at the base of the Franklin Mountains on Olympic St.

After composing our music on a basic Wal-Mart bought synthesizer we took it to George Espino who then produced our EP titled "The second renaissance". We sold our EP in local record stores and managed to get shows at Club 101 to open for acts like T42, Ohbonic, The movement, Opus3, Cause and Effect, Anything Box, Information Society and The hunger(I'm sure you've all read this in the band biography already). Through the years one thing has always stayed with me and that's Nostalgia, Dangerous Nostalgia if you will. On many a rainy night I often find myself taking a trip down memory lane to the deserts of El Paso, its unique smell of rain and a special place called "Concordia Cemetery". On winter days we would often walk through the cemetery and read the gravestones and wonder how thier lives were hundreds of years ago and what secrets they held. And so the story goes to this day. I'm sure many can relate. Thanks for taking the time to read my biography. I hope to hear from all of you in the near future. Soto
