Wow!
What an incredible last couple months have been for us...a whirlwind of activity. It's been awhile since we all chatted and hope that this email finds you well. First of all I'd like to welcome all the new people who have signed up in the last month. They come from as far as Turkey and as close to home as Austin...we're definitely glad to have you all on board!
THE BAND:
Well...let's start off by catchin' everyone up with what's happened to the band members. After our May acoustic show at the Speakeasy (Austin), our drummer Scott Scholwinski had quit. Unfortunately, he left us in a tough position as we were booked for two major shows. We were fortunate that our friends from the former Edgewater Orion stepped up and lent us Shane, their previous drummer. Shane quickly learned our material, as a matter of fact he had only one practice with us…lol! Nonetheless the shows went off without a hitch and everyone enjoyed themselves, including the band. At this point we would like to welcome Mark Son on drums. Mark stepped in immediately after the Stubbs show. (Thanks Joe!) We really never skipped a beat...hahaha, no pun intended. We are getting new photos done and soon you can see this hot new stud. Mark brings over ten years of experience and an incredible amount of enthusiasm. His addition has already pushed the doors wide open with what we can achieve.
THE RECORDING:
With Scott gone, that left us in a predicament about our recording. We were already in the middle of mixing the new 6 song cd and were practically ready to release the material. We decided, as a band, that we would re-do the entire cd with marks drums. His powerful playing was something we felt could truly use to enhance the songs and even further bring to life our visions. We now are sitting on a full-length cd, nearly completed, with new songs! The songs are powerful and it is so exciting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The decision to start over has proven to be an incredible blessing in disguise. The sound is more powerful than ever. The songs are stronger than ever and we are excited to release a full length cd rather than a 5-6 song cd.
The song listings (in NO particular order) for the forthcoming cd, currently titled "Suffocation", are:
1. Barfly
2. Brittle
3. Comfort Zone
4. Crystal Unclear
5. Perfect Life
6. Untitled
7. Suffocation
8. Nothing Matters
9. La Vina
10. Olympic Street
We look forward to uploading a new song in the next week of June 24. We will send the link as soon as it available. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have enjoyed making it...even with it's delays...lol
THE TOUR/SHOWS:
With our new cd and energy, we'll resume our shows starting July. DO NOT MAKE PLANS FOR JULY 6, FRIDAY NIGHT! We return to our hometown, Austin, TX for a full-length performance at La Zona Rosa. We go on at 11:30. Halloway (9pm) and Damesviolet (10pm) join us for the event. Both of these bands are incredible. I assure that you will not want to miss this event. We will begin our tour throughout the southwest region, stretching from Louisiana to California in September. We will be supporting our radio play in select cities and the release of the new cd. Look for us to be in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio during the months of July and August. Keep visiting the site at: http://www.fastandfar.com/pages/shows for the most up to date info.
